Syngenta is set to bolster the UK’s agricultural research landscape with its $130 million investment in BioSTaR, a cutting-edge Biological Sciences Technology and Research center. Nestled within Syngenta’s existing R&D hub at Jealott’s Hill, UK, the facility will unite 300 scientists to drive advancements in biological sciences, molecular research, and digital innovation, positioning the UK as a leader in agricultural technology.

BioSTaR, expected to be fully operational by 2028, will consolidate expertise under one roof, fostering collaboration among specialists in biological, chemical, and digital disciplines. As the largest agricultural research facility in the UK, Jealott’s Hill already houses more than 800 scientists, making it the epicenter of Syngenta’s global crop protection research efforts. This new venture enjoys support from UK government ministers, underscoring its potential to create high-quality jobs and reinforce the nation’s leadership in agricultural research. Syngenta’s broader commitment is evident, with the company investing over $800 million annually in crop protection R&D and holding more than 10,000 patents.

Syngenta’s BioSTaR investment not only underlines the company’s dedication to agricultural innovation but also strengthens the UK’s position in the global agri-tech sector. By integrating advanced AI capabilities and fostering scientific collaboration, BioSTaR is poised to accelerate product development and shape the future of sustainable agriculture.
