Dentalcorp Enters US With 21-Clinic Florida Acquisition

28th August 2026

Dentalcorp, the largest dental support organisation (DSO) in Canada, has entered the US market by acquiring Northstar Dental Partners, a dentist-led DSO operating 21 dental clinics across Florida. Announced on 27 August 2026, the transaction marks Dentalcorp’s first expansion outside Canada and signals accelerating cross-border consolidation across the North American dental services category, with total supported practices now exceeding 650 and approximately six million patient visits annually.

Northstar Dental Partners grew from a family dental business after founder and CEO Dr Jordan Tomalty opened a second clinic in 2013, and now operates practices across South Florida, the Treasure Coast, Southwest Florida and Central Florida. Financial terms were not disclosed. Nate Tchaplia, President of Dentalcorp, positioned Northstar as setting a high bar for the company’s first US partnership. Dr Tomalty will retain an ownership stake in the combined business, aligned with Dentalcorp’s partnership model, which allows practice owners to realise value while potentially retaining a financial interest and continuing to practise.

Dentalcorp itself completed a corporate transformation earlier this year: on 14 January 2026, the DSO ceased to be publicly traded when acquired by investment funds affiliated with US private equity firm GTCR, valuing Dentalcorp’s equity at approximately C$2.2 billion (€1.4 billion). The Northstar acquisition places Dentalcorp in direct competitive tension with dominant US DSO players including Heartland Dental, Aspen Dental, Pacific Dental Services, Dental Care Alliance and Smile Brands, reflecting broader momentum in private equity-backed cross-border DSO consolidation across North America and Europe.

The commercial signal is an intensifying wave of private equity-backed cross-border DSO consolidation reshaping the North American dental services category. Dentalcorp’s US entry through Florida provides a scalable launch point. Expect Heartland Dental, Aspen Dental, Pacific Dental Services and other US DSOs to accelerate their own regional consolidation, alongside continued PE-driven activity across UK operators (Bupa Dental, Portman, Rodericks, {mydentist}).
