Blackstone and Johnson & Johnson Collaborate to Tackle AML

Adam Tiberius
Blackstone Life Sciences (BXLS) has announced a significant partnership with Johnson & Johnson to co-fund the ongoing and future clinical trials of bleximenib, an experimental oral menin inhibitor for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This collaboration marks the first co-funding agreement between these two industry leaders, focusing on advancing treatment options for this aggressive form of leukemia.
AML remains a challenging blood cancer with the lowest survival rate among leukemia types, requiring novel treatment strategies. Bleximenib targets specific genetic mutations associated with AML, offering a promising new approach to combat the disease. Currently, bleximenib is under investigation in various clinical trial phases, either as a standalone treatment or in combination with other AML therapies. Blackstone Life Sciences, with $15 billion under management, aims to leverage its investment capabilities and Johnson & Johnson’s expertise in hematologic malignancies to bridge significant gaps in patient care and accelerate the delivery of innovative therapies worldwide.
This collaboration between Blackstone Life Sciences and Johnson & Johnson underscores a shared commitment to enhancing care for AML patients through cutting-edge research and development. By pooling resources and expertise, the partnership seeks to unlock new possibilities in the treatment of this fast-progressing cancer, ultimately striving to improve survival outcomes and quality of life for patients globally.
