GE HealthCare, Catholic Health Ink 10-Year $500m Deal

24th July 2026

GE HealthCare has signed a 10-year, $500 million strategic partnership with Catholic Health, a New York-based integrated health system. Announced last week and reported on 21 July 2026, the deal will see GE HealthCare supply more than 1,300 pieces of equipment across Catholic Health’s hospitals and ambulatory locations, with shipments starting within months and around half of the total equipment installed in the first three years.

The agreement targets modernisation across Catholic Health’s cardiology, oncology, neurology and women’s health services. Imaging platforms with on-device AI capabilities and expanded nuclear medicine capacity at two hospitals target compression of the time from diagnosis to treatment on the oncology side. GE HealthCare will supply hundreds of ultrasound systems for point-of-care and bedside use, alongside advanced cardiac imaging across multiple outpatient and ambulatory sites. Contrast-enhanced mammography, expanded diagnostic imaging and upgraded maternal-infant care monitoring are scheduled for the first months of the alliance.

A distinctive feature of the deal, which GE HealthCare described as unique among its care alliances, is the placement of an embedded cardiovascular scientist to work directly with Catholic Health clinicians, feeding physician perspectives into equipment and technology decisions. The partners expect the 10-year structure to generate capital savings versus conventional equipment purchasing through unitary payments and accelerator mechanisms. The Catholic Health agreement sits within a growing GE HealthCare “care alliance” portfolio that includes a 10-year OSF HealthCare deal, a seven-year $1 billion Sutter Health deal, and a 14-year UC San Diego Health agreement.

The commercial signal is medical imaging shifting decisively from transactional equipment sales to long-duration integrated service contracts. Care alliance structures lock in health system capex over a decade or more, protecting recurring revenue streams from Philips, Siemens Healthineers and Canon Medical competition. Expect all three to accelerate their own multi-year partnership offerings over the coming year to defend installed base share.
