RadNet Acquires AI Company Gleamer to Enhance Imaging Capabilities

Albert Baines
In a strategic move to bolster its diagnostic imaging capabilities, RadNet has announced the acquisition of French AI-driven company Gleamer for up to €230m ($267.2m). This acquisition enables RadNet to incorporate Gleamer’s extensive portfolio of FDA-approved and CE-marked radiology tools, supercharging their service offerings across screening, detection, interpretation, and follow-up in diverse disease areas.
RadNet, a leader in diagnostic imaging, stands to gain significantly from Gleamer’s AI tools, which aim to automate routine imaging processes, increasing both efficiency and diagnostic accuracy. This acquisition integrates seamlessly with RadNet’s health informatics division, DeepHealth, and absorbs Gleamer’s team of 130 employees, enhancing their capabilities in 44 countries. Gleamer’s AI solutions, particularly in lung, breast, and neurological imaging, complement RadNet’s existing operations, which already have a significant focus on X-rays, comprising 25% of their imaging volume. This aligns with broader trends in healthcare where AI is increasingly pivotal, as evidenced by major tech companies like OpenAI exploring AI-driven healthcare solutions.
RadNet’s acquisition of Gleamer positions the company at the forefront of AI-driven diagnostic imaging, promising measurable productivity gains. By leveraging Gleamer’s cutting-edge AI reporting capabilities, RadNet aims to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs, solidifying its status as a leader in the evolving landscape of healthcare technology.
