Bristol Myers Squibb opens new UK headquarters

Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) has opened a new state of the heart British HQ investment in Uxbridge, according to Pharmafocus.com.

The new building will be home to over 200 employees, and cost BMS ?5.5 million to build. The firm, which is the sixth largest supplier of products to the NHS, said that the new site showed its commitment to UK investment.

Since 2003 the company has successfully launched three treatments in the country within the fields of HIV, schizophrenia and analgesia. Jane Kennedy, minister of state for health, congratulated BMS on the new HQ.

“The pharmaceutical industry creates huge benefits in both treating patients, and bringing investment into the UK. Bristol-Myers Squibb’s ?5.5 million investment in Uxbridge demonstrates its continued commitment to the UK,” she said.

She added that BMS’s own work into diabetes, obesity and cancer had parallels with the government’s health priorities.

David Veitch, vice president of BMS’s European operations, said he was pleased with the building: “Bristol-Myers Squibb is a pharmaceutical company that is looking confidently to the future; the modern, open and innovative design of our new head office reflects this confidence.”
