Becton Dickinson ties up Dynomics BV deal

29th March 2006

Becton Dickinson (BD) Biosciences has announced a research and licensing agreement with Dynomics BV for treatment in the fields of lymphoma and leukaemia.

The deal will see BD have exclusive rights to intellectual property which is related to the flow of cytometry detection of fusion proteins.

William E Rhodes III, president of cell analysis at BD, said that Dynomics BV had made “significant advances” in this field.

“This partnership and important new technology give BD the opportunity to advance technical solutions that can be applied in our core markets ? in leukaemia and lymphoma testing,” he said.

Detection of fusion proteins is important in the diagnosis, monitoring and classification of leukaemias and malignant lymphomas.

They are present in the body after a rearrangement of chromosomes in a cell occurs in people who have blood cell malignancies.
