Johnson and Johnson set to debut phase III data at dermatology congress

Johnson & Johnson is set to debut phase III data of ustekinumab at the 21st meeting of the World Congress of Dermatology, taking place from September 30th to October 5th in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The phase III trial has been intended to evaluate ustekinumab (CNTO 1275) in the treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis – a chronic, immune-mediated disease that results from inflammation in the skin.

Centocor, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, has been behind the phase III development of ustekinumab.

The drug is a fully-human monoclonal antibody which is being investigated as an infrequently-administered subcutaneous injection.
Earlier this year, Centocor announced the analysis of data from a clinical study of Remicade (infliximab) in patients with severe psoriasis.

The results showed that three-quarters of patients exhibited a 75 per cent improvement in symptoms measured by the Psoriasis Area Severity Index, while those patients with psoriasis affecting the nails also showed significant improvements in their symptoms.
