Schering-Plough to present Pegintron clinical data

31st October 2007

Schering-Plough is set to present new clinical data on its hepatitis products Pegintron and Rebetol combination therapy at the 59th American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) annual meeting.

Researchers will deliver 68 presentations over the course of the meeting with several studies examining the predictability of response with Pegintron and Rebetol.

The studies assess how results at important treatment milestones at the early stage of therapy can help physicians and patients make informed decisions regarding treatment.

One of the main features of the presentation will include the final results from the Power programme – a large observational study involving 2,000 patients where the Pegintron and Rebetol combination achieved consistent virologic response rates across patient weights and consistently low relapse rates in a real-life treatment setting.

New data will also be presented on the investigational use of low-dose Pegintron as maintenance therapy in chronic hepatitis C non-responder patients with fibrosis or cirrhosis.

The AASLD annual meeting will take place from November 2nd to 6th in Boston, United States.

Earlier this month, Schering-Plough announced that it has received marketing approval by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare for its Claritin Dry Syrup formulation for treatment in patients aged three and above.
