Millipore announces collaboration with Abenome

3rd December 2007

Millipore Corporation is to collaborate with Abeome Corporation to develop and distribute a novel stem cell antibody.

The anti-body, Human Embryonic Stem Cell Antigen-1 (Hesca-1), is a previously unidentified marker for the analysis of pluripotent stem cells in immunocytochemistry and other immunological techniques.

Developed by both Abeome and Novocell, Hesca-1 targets a cell surface protein that is a potentially unique antigen expressed by human embryonic stem cells.

Donald O’Neill, director of marketing for stem cells and cell biology at Millipore, said: "HESCA-1 highlights Millipore’s commitment to providing innovative tools for the advancement of human embryonic stem cell research.

"This demonstrates yet another example of our strategy to provide the most complete integrated stem cell offering, cutting across the entire stem cell workflow."

Millipore, a Life Science Leader providing cutting-edge technologies, tools and services for bio-science research, will market and distribute Hesca-1 throughout the research community. With further investigation it may be useful in the treatment of cancer and other debilitating diseases.

Millipore recently expanded it’s collection of lipid kinases, making it the broadest panel of lipid kinases available worldwide.
