Grifols, a holding company specialising in the field of hospital pharmaceuticals, has been selected for incorporation into the Ibex 35 listings by the Technical Assessment Committee in Spain.
The firm replaces Antena 3 and NH Hotels following a regular revision by the committee, with this decision based on the capitalisation and volume of business for the firms, as well as other criteria.
Grifols reports that the Ibex 35 is the Spanish index most-closely followed by investors both in Spain and abroad, as it includes the 35 Spanish firms with the greatest adjusted capitalisation and volume of business.
“It is a source of great satisfaction for Grifols to form part of this highly selective index of companies,” the firm said.
“The inclusion of the company will also increase the sector diversification of the index.”
Grifols added that it is currently the fourth largest producer of plasma derivatives worldwide and is currently following a business strategy that has given it the momentum to join this index around 18 months after its stock exchange debut.
In November 2007, Grifols announced its financial figures for the first nine months of the year, with the company reporting an 8.7 per cent increase in business turnover over the same period last year to 524.4 million euros (366.16 million pounds).
