bioMerieux and Quidel enter global alliance

bioMerieux and Quidel Corporation have agreed a long-term global alliance in the area of rapid clinical diagnostics for the point of care.

bioMerieux will become the primary distributor of Quidel’s QuickVue rapid diagnostic tests outside the US.

The two companies also plan to co-develop new rapid tests.

Stephane Bancel, chief executive officer of bioMerieux, said: "We are delighted with this very synergistic partnership with Quidel."

Caren Mason, president and chief executive officer of Quidel added that the alliance will result in "new high-value point of care tests".

bioMerieux is a world leader in the field of in vitro diagnostics, throughout more than 150 countries.

The company provides diagnostic solutions which determine the source of disease and contamination to improve patient health.
