Schering Plough unveils SPF products

19th March 2008

Pharmaceutical group Schering-Plough has announced the release of two new products as part of its sunscreen range.

It claims that Coppertone Ultraguard and Coppertone Sport give consumers the highest available sun protection factor (SPF) in spray form.

With an SPF of 70-plus, both items have been developed as part of the Coppertone “legacy” to use science and innovation in the creation of products to meet consumers’ changing needs, the company said.

Coppertone Sport is “ultrasweat-proof” and Coppertone Ultraguard is designed to be “family-friendly”, while both offer photostable and durable protection against UVA and UVB rays.

“Photostable, broad-spectrum sunscreens are essential for defence against damaging UVA and UVB rays, and Coppertone continues to lead in providing this protection,” said Beth Lange, senior director of research and development at Schering-Plough’s Coppertone Solar Research Centre.

Meanwhile, recent news from the company included the recommended approval for Sugammadex, which works as a selective relaxant binding agent.
