Pfizer Animal Health launches new swine protection
Producers of swine can now help their breeders avoid major reproductive diseases, it has been reported.
Online livestock resource ThePigSite.com has highlighted the potential benefits of the newly-formulated Pfizer drugs.
The vaccines, named FarrowSure GOLD, help protect against porcine parvovirus, erysipelas and five different sorts of leptospirosis, the website noted.
Steve Sornsen, director of veterinary services for Pfizer Animal Health, told the publication: “Parvo, lepto and erysipelas vaccination is an important component of any breeding herd health program.”
Pfizer recently announced it was to cease production at its manufacturing facilities in Sandwich, Kent, as it seeks to consolidate its global operations.
The drugs giant stated that it needs to become smaller and more flexible as the business environment for research-based pharmaceuticals has become far more competitive.
Vice-president of Pfizer Global Manufacturing Tony Maddaluna commented that the move was the latest in a series of changes designed to respond to the “challenging” business environment.
