York pharma adds two brands to its portfolio

York Pharma has acquired two brands to add to its portfolio of dermatological pharmaceutical products, it has been revealed.

After paying out more than 20 million pounds, the company was able to secure the rights to market and distribute Flammazine and Flammacerium.

Both products are used to treat wounds and other dermatological problems and their intellectual property rights had previously been owned by the Solvay company.

York Pharma has expressed its intention to establish the two newly acquired products in North American markets and to build on those in Europe where sales are already strong.

Terry Sadler, chief executive of York Pharma, commented: “This is a highly strategic acquisition for York Pharma, bringing us two well established products which represent the ‘gold standard’ of treatment within their sphere of use.”

York Pharma was established in 2003 and the company claims that the global market for dermatological pharmaceuticals is growing by between seven and ten per cent on an annual basis.
