Sigma-Aldrich strikes distribution agreement with IsoSciences

16th September 2008

Sigma-Aldrich has signed an exclusive agreement with biological compounds specialist IsoSciences to distribute the company’s isotopically-labelled bioactive compounds and the metabolites through its Aldrich division.

Under the deal, IsoScience will provide Aldrich with a list of agreed products, including deuterated, 13C and 15N vitamins, steroids and other bioactive compounds used in the field of metabolic research.

The products are designed for use in scientific investigations into the relationship between diet, health and diseases, Sigma-Aldrich said. In particular, they are suited to studies looking at nutrient interaction with different metabolic pathways, bioavailability and nutrient analysis.

IsoSciences products will join an "extensive range" of unlabeled bioactive compounds already supplied by Sigma-Aldrich, the company added.

Dr Scott Landvatter, IsoSciences’ chief executive officer, said: "Our partnership with Sigma-Aldrich will allow us the widest possible distribution of our unique stable isotope labelled compounds to scientists worldwide."

Sigma-Aldrich is a listed life sciences and high technology specialist that produces a range of biochemical and organic chemical kits for use in biotechnology, pharmaceutical development and scientific and genomic research.

The company operates in 36 countries and is listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange. In August, it announced a quarterly dividend payout of $0.13 (£0.07) per share.
