Kobayashi publishes annual report

Kobayashi Pharmaceutical, the parent company of Kobayashi Healthcare, has published its annual report for the year ended May 2008.

During the 12-month period the company recorded sales of 228,827 million yen (1.22 billion pounds), a drop of 11 per cent over the previous year.

Operating income for the year rose by three per cent to 18,576 million yen, while net income rose 2.5 per cent to 8,505 million yen.

Kazumasa Kobayashi, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, said: “We believe that maintaining a constant sense of urgency and a conscious intent to continuously develop new products is essential to our growth strategy.”

He added that employees should not forget the commitments that form the DNA of the company, specifically its work to be a development-focused firm and one dedicated to its customers.

Kobayashi Pharmaceutical was founded in 1919 and has 1,264 employees as of the end of March 2008.
