Grifols set to benefit from “healthy” blood market
Grifols is expected to benefit from a "healthy trend" in the global market for blood banking and products, which is expected to be worth $32.3 billion (19.9 billion pounds) by 2010, according to a report.
Information released by Global Industry Analysts found the US and Europe collectively account for more than 63 per cent of the worldwide market. The blood components and plasma products market is the largest segment with an estimated share of 79 per cent this year.
Additionally, this segment is expected to be the fastest-growing, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.3 per cent over the period 2008 to 2012.
This may be welcomed by Grifiols, as it is a European company which produces blood plasma products.
Global Industry Analysts’ report also found the blood banking and blood products market in Asia-Pacific excluding Japan is predicted to grow at a CAGR of 4.9 per cent between 2008 and 2012.
