ProStrakan Group has today announced the US launch of Sancuso, a transdermal patch for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in patients receiving chemotherapy.
The launch of the company’s patent protected patch is the world’s first licensed transdermal 5HT3 reeceptor antagonist product and follows the US Food and Drug Administration’s approval in September.
ProStrakan’s US sales force of 67 staff was established in collaboration with NovaQuest and undertook a week-long training and induction programme before the launch of the patch.
The company’s staff are now permitted to promote the product to oncologists and oncology nurses across the US.
Chief Executive of ProStrakan, Dr Wilson Totten, said: “The launch of Sancuso in the US is a major achievement for ProStrakan and our new sales team is now fully equipped to introduce Sancuso to oncologists and oncology nurses across the US.”
The Sancuso patch can be used for chemotherapy patients receiving the treatment for us to five consecutive days and means that injections or multiple pills are not necessary on a repeated daily basis.
Based in Galashiels, Scotland, ProStrakan specialises in the commercialisation and development of prescription medicines used to treat unmet therapeutic needs.
The company has commercial subsidiaries in the US, France, Spain, Germany and the UK, among other European countries.
