Pfizer facility wins award

Pfizer’s Newcon facility in Illertissen, Germany, has won the Overall Winner of the 2008 Facility of the Year Award.

The company was named the winner on October 27th, with the facility previously winning Facility of the Year in the category of Process Innovation.

Peter Remiger, site leader of Pfizer Global Manufacturing in Illertissen, Germany and Clemens Hohfelser, director of IT at the same site, accepted the award.

Nat Ricciardi, president of Pfizer Global Manufacturing, said that the company as happy to receive the award.

He added: “The award is a strong acknowledgment of the vision, dedication and industry-leading work of the people involved in this project, both Pfizer colleagues and our external partners.”

Searchers of animal health jobs may also be interested to hear that Illertissen is a drug product manufacturing site as part of the Pfizer Global Manufacturing network. The site is a centre of excellence in containment manufacturing, as part of a rapidly growing demand for the recently launched product Chantix.

The facility also features the newly built Newcon (New Containment) facility – a single-floor, single-containment module that can house up to three production trains – as part of the production of Chantx.

Pfizer Global manufacturing comprises of approximately 30 per cent of Pfizer’s colleagues who focus upon animal and human health products.
