Actavis opens new lab

Actavis has announced the opening of a new research and development (R&D) laboratory in Florida, it has emerged.

It was launched by the Actavis South Atlantic division of the international group and includes an expansion of 3,000 sq ft to the analytics department and 1,500 sq ft to the R&D workspace.

Additional office space was also created as part of the project, the company said.

Chief executive officer of Actavis US, Doug Boothe, said the group continued its focus on new technology.

“The expansion of our South Atlantic R&D facility ensures that we remain well-positioned to develop and manufacture XL (extended release) and CR (continuous release) drugs,” he added.

In the UK, Actavis has more than 350 medicines available and states its aim to be a commitment to providing first-class generics on the first day of patient expiry.

Globally, the group’s headquarters are located in Iceland, although it operates in over 40 countries.

There are more than 11,000 employees currently working for Actavis.
