Coca-Cola’s chairman of the board not to stand for re-election

15th December 2008

Coca-Cola’s present chairman of the board has announced he will not stand for re-election in April.

Neville Isdell wrote to the company, confirming his intention to step down from the chair. The announcement is consistent with the plan revealed in December 2007, which named president and chief executive officer Muhtar Kent as Mr Isdell’s preferred successor.

"I have always believed that well-conceived and well-executed succession planning is a vital responsibility of public company boards," Mr Isdell said, adding that responsibility had been met when the succession plan was announced last year.

He went on to describe Mr Kent as "experienced and talented" and currently "providing outstanding leadership".

Mr Kent is expected to be elected following the Annual Meeting of Shareholders in April.

In October, Coca-Cola Company’s board of directors announced the election of Maria Elena Lagomasino as a director.
