Bayer’s A1CNow+ ‘shows precision and accuracy’

Bayer’s A1C (HbA1c) monitor, A1CNow+, has demonstrated high levels of precision and accuracy, according to a study presented at the recent Annual Meeting of the Diabetes Technology Society.

Researchers at the Diabetes Centre of the Christliches Krankenhaus in Quakenbruck, Germany, found the portable A1CNow+ monitor showed "comparable accuracy to the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) laboratory method", the manufacturer said.

In addition, the product – emphasised as the only hand-held, point-of-care A1C monitor currently on the market – offers "immediate results for patients and physicians", according to Dr Thorsten Petruschke, director of medical, clinical and scientific affairs at Bayer Diabetes Care Europe.

He added the A1CNow+ provides a more convenient way to monitor blood, which may help to improve the management of diabetes by allowing "the most effective treatment plan" immediately.

Dr Petruschke concluded by saying Bayer was "proud" to offer diabetes patients the product to help simplify their lives.
