Lilly says it welcomes latest addition to its board
Lilly is pleased to welcome Ralph Alvarez as a new associate on its board of directors, it has been claimed.
This is the assertion of the company’s chairman and chief executive officer Professor John Lechleiter after the firm announced Mr Alvarez would become a member as of April 1st 2009.
Currently, the 53-year-old serves as the president and chief operating officer of McDonald’s Corporation, as well as sitting on its board of directors.
For over 30 years, Mr Alvarez has demonstrated strong leadership while managing a worldwide organisation, Professor Lechleiter stated.
“Ralph truly understands and appreciates the value of building a successful, global customer-focused enterprise,” he commented.
Professor Lechleiter concluded that the latest addition to Lilly would benefit its shareholders.
As well as serving on the public policy and compliance committee, Mr Alvarez will also sit on the finance board.
In 2010, he will stand for election by the firm’s shareholders at the company’s annual meeting.
Lilly is the tenth largest pharmaceutical company in the world.
