PerkinElmer says new Labworks system is affordable

PerkinElmer maintains that its newest product offering, Labworks laboratory information management system (LIMS) version 6.1, is affordable and requires minimal user training.

Labworks 6.1 is a LIMS with a zero-footprint web client and one that has been designed to offer customers protection from hardware obsolescence, says the company’s vice-president of the chromatography business unit and analytical sciences Eric Ziegler.

The product is aimed at supporting a range of needs found in a lab, such as data distribution, pre-login sample organisation and a configurable workflow to help firms concentrate on relevant process steps without changing operations.

"We are able to make wireless LIMS an affordable, maintainable and capable option," explains Mr Ziegler. "We also recognise that the current economic climate demands the development of cost-effective solutions."

Meanwhile, earlier this week saw PerkinElmer and the Waters Corporation announce they were to develop a chromatography interface software product.

It said the collaboration would combine the strong offerings of both companies and benefit customers.
