Beiersdorf business development ‘in line with current expectations’

4th August 2009

Beiersdorf’s business developments in the first half of 2009 are in line with the company’s current expectations, the chairman of its executive board has said.

Thomas Quaas stated that the firm’s Nivea and Eucerin brands were able to increase their global market share, while La Prairie “continued to hold its own”.

He added: “We are sticking to our strategic goals and are maintaining our investments in marketing and research. We are still expecting the consumer business segment to see sales growth in 2009 that is slightly in excess of the market.”

The company said that while it will not be able to completely match the previous year’s sales by the end of 2009, the consumer and teas business segments aim to enhance their market positions during the ongoing economic downturn.

Last month, Beiersdorf announced that Claas Sandrock will step down from his position as corporate vice-president of corporate communications on August 31st.

His position will remain vacant until a decision regarding his successor has been reached.
