Beckman Coulter Genomics created

Beckman Coulter has announced the creation of a new company that combines Agencourt Bioscience and Cogenics, the latter of which was acquired by the firm relatively recently.

It is hoped that the new enterprise – Beckman Coulter Genomics – will offer researchers a single resource for genomic services with expanded global capabilities.

A total of three next-generation imaging platforms will be offered by the firm – Applied Biosystems SOLiD, Illumina Genome Analyser and Roche 454 Genome Sequencer FLX with Titanium.

Richard Creager, Beckman Coulter group vice-president of immunoassay, molecular diagnostics and genomic services, said that the creation of the new company represents the combination of some of the sector’s leading genomic service providers.

Susan Evans, general manager of Beckman Coulter Genomics, added: "Our experienced team has the energy and resolve needed to deliver high-quality results scientists can trust, on time and on budget."

Earlier this month, Beckman Coulter announced that it has completed the acquisition of Olympus’ lab-based diagnostics business, extending its reach in the chemistry and automation segments.
