Eisai resolves issues with Pfizer on Alzheimer’s treatment

25th September 2009

Eisai has announced that it has reached an agreement with Pfizer on unresolved issues that arose during an earlier partnership related to the Alzheimer’s disease treatment Aricept (donepezil hydrochloride).

The two organisations have agreed to a partial alteration of the agreement for Aricept, which will see them continue in their joint efforts to promote the drug in key European, Japanese and US markets.

Furthermore, Eisai will also co-promote pregabalin in Japan, Pfizer’s treatment for neuropathic pain, which it has launched in Europe and the US under the brand name Lyrica.

The original collaboration agreement between Eisai and Pfizer was established in October 1994.

Eisai, a human health firm concentrating on solutions in disease prevention, cure and care for the health, aims to explore approaches that address two major missions ? improving the quality of patients’ lives and meeting theirs and their families’ medical needs.
