ALK-Abello reveals 9-month interim report

ALK-Abello has posted a nine-month interim report, offering its clients and shareholders an update on its financial operations.

Operating profit for the first nine months of the year rose to 117 million Danish kroner (14.2 million pounds) – an increase of 50 per cent, the group revealed.

Sales growth was witnessed during the third quarter of the year, with organic vaccine sales increasing by ten per cent.

Additionally, capacity costs increased by one per cent to 875 million Danish kroner.

The firm also made some adjustments to its forecast for the whole 2009 financial year, expecting organic growth in allergy vaccine sales of around ten per cent.

Operating profit is now predicted to stand at a minimum of 150 million Danish kroner for the period.

Last week, ALK announced that the initiation of a major study into childhood asthma – the Grazax Asthma Prevention trial – which it said will be the largest-ever study into the preventive effects of the condition among five to 12-year-old children ever conducted.
