Grenier Bio-One to launch cryogenic sample rack
Grenier Bio-One is to release a new rack which allows multiple cryogenic samples to be scanned and processed simultaneously.
The Datamatrix Scanning Rack works in conjunction with the company’s Cryo.s freezing tubes, which are encoded with special identification data in the plastic base of the vials.
Up to 48 of the tubes can be stored at once in the new rack, which features openings in its base, allowing the Datamatrix code of all samples to be processed at once using a flat bed scanner.
The firm states that its Datamatrix system is advantageous due to the codes’ resistance to stress, low temperatures and solvents, as well as their in-built auto-correction algorithms which enable the reading of partly damaged codes.
It added that this allows for “automated and efficient sample handling”.
Cryo.s tubes are designed for use in a variety of microbiological applications, including storage of protein samples, cell cultures, DNA and fungi.
