Orthovita first quarter sales increase year-on-year
Orthovita has published its first quarter financial report for 2010, highlighting an 11 per cent increase in product sales compared to the corresponding period of last year.
The medical device company’s takings rose to $24.1 million (15.9 million pounds) during the quarter, driven in part by improved performance for the firm’s biosurgery and orthobiologic products.
It also highlighted the recent launch of lines such as Cortoss and Aliquot as having played a role in this growth, in addition to the final sales of its now-discontinued Vitomatrix product.
Nancy Broadbent, chief financial officer of Orthovita, said that its performance in recent months has also led to the company taking on more sales and administrative staff.
She added: “We expect to maintain our current sales force and infrastructure staffing levels through the remainder of 2010.”
This latest growth follows on from a strong year for Orthovita in 2009, during which the company’s sales rose by 21 per cent compared to the previous 12 months.
