BD reports progress towards sustainability targets

7th June 2010

BD has hailed its achievements in improving its business sustainability over the last year.

The medical technology and science company has published its 2009 Sustainability Report, highlighting its progress towards environmental and corporate responsibility.

Among the objectives towards which BD has been working are the addressing of global health concerns, responsible design of products and making societal contributions.

As a result of this work, the company earned a number of accolades during 2009, including prominent positions on sustainability rankings compiled by Dow Jones, Ethisphere, Newsweek and FTSE.

Edward Ludwig, chairman and chief executive officer of BD, said: “We are making very good progress and we have many opportunities to make an even greater impact.

“We are seeking to incorporate sustainable practices into every aspect of our operations.”

Last month, BD launched the Influx Cell Sorting System, a seven-laser flow cytometry system designed to provide increased flexibility and efficiency in advanced cell research.
