Johnson and Johnson sales rise in Q2 2010
Johnson and Johnson has seen a 0.6 per cent year-on-year increase in its global product sales during the second quarter of 2010.
The healthcare firm’s sales total for the three-month period came to $15.3 billion (9.9 billion pounds), with growth in international territories compensating for a slight decline in its US sales.
Medical device and diagnostic products were among the sectors in which the company saw growth, with total sales from this unit increasing by 4.1 per cent year-on-year to $6.1 billion.
Individual businesses cited as strong performers included Biosense Webster’s electrophysiology unit and DePuy’s orthopaedic joint reconstruction activities.
William Weldon, chairman and chief executive officer of Johnson and Johnson, said: “We continue to make significant investments in acquisitions, strategic partnerships and in advancing our pipeline, positioning us well for future growth.”
Earlier this month, the company expanded its medical device activities further with the acquisition of Micrus Endovascular, which will be integrated as part of DePuy.
