B Braun and NeoMed announce new product alliance

B Braun has agreed to ally with fellow medical device manufacturer NeoMed in a partnership which brings together two of the companies' products.

The firms will be promoting the advantages of combining B Braun's Perfusor Space Syringe Pump with NeoMed's Enteral Safety System when conducting enteral feedings and medications.

According to the manufacturers, this combination will allow clinicians to benefit from the flexibility and accuracy of the Space infusion system, while experiencing the added safety provided by NeoMed's technology.

Gale White, vice-president of infusion systems marketing for B Braun Medical, said this will help doctors to minimise the risk of enteral/IV misconnections and medication errors.

She explained: "Catheter/tubing misconnections continue to contribute to serious, life-threatening errors when clinicians mistakenly administer oral/enteral liquids through IV lines rather than through an enteral feeding tube."

Earlier this year, B Braun introduced new RacePack packaging for its Premilene synthetic suturing product, which allows procedures to be conducted more effectively.
