Stryker sees sales growth in third quarter
Stryker has seen positive year-on-year sales growth of seven percent in the last three months, according to the medical device firm's latest financial report.
Third quarter fiscal data has revealed that Stryker achieved a sales total of $1.8 billion (1.1 billion pounds) for the period, with growth recorded both in the US and internationally.
On a global basis, the company saw the commercial performance of its MedSurg equipment and orthopaedic implants both improve, with demand for shipments of hips and knee implant systems, surgical navigation devices and emergency medical equipment rising.
As a result, the company has revised its outlook for the 2010 full year and now expects to achieve a year-on-year sales growth of between seven and eight percent.
Stephen MacMillan, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Stryker, said: "We are pleased that our third quarter results continue to reinforce the strengths provided by our unique set of businesses."
In August 2010, the company agreed a $150 million deal to acquire Gaymar Industries, a manufacturer of support surface and pressure ulcer management solutions.
