Life Technologies reports growth in third quarter
Life Technologies, operator of the Applied Biosystems and Invitrogen brands, has experienced year-on-year growth during the third quarter of 2010.
Data from the science group's new three-month financial report shows that revenues for the quarter came to $869 million (541.8 million pounds), up by eight percent from the $805 million total recorded in Q3 2009.
The firm was able to achieve double-digit growth in its genetic systems and cell systems business divisions, while also seeing improved demand via its ecommerce channels.
It was also able to achieve key milestones, such as the launch of the Applied Biosystems AutoMate Express forensic DNA extraction system and the acquisition of Ion Torrent.
Gregory Lucier, chairman and chief executive officer of Life Technologies, said: "The company continues to deliver consistent revenue growth due to its diversified geographic presence and broad technology portfolio."
This week, the firm announced the launch of its 5500xl SOLiD Sequencer, a new device for use in cancer and genetic disease research.
