DJO has announced the acquisition of Elastic Therapy, a manufacturer of medical compression therapy products designed to treat venous disorders.
The transaction closed on January 4th 2011 and allows DJO to take control of an internationally-distributed portfolio of products including anti-embolism stockings, surgical weight stockings and compression socks.
It is ranked as one of the largest manufacturers of private label medical compression therapy products in the world and generated a preliminary unaudited net revenue figure of around $26 million (16.8 million pounds) in the last 12 months.
Les Cross, president and chief executive officer of DJO, said the purchase will strengthen the company's presence in the deep vein thrombosis prevention market, while the two firms' operating cultures and distribution methods were said to align well.
"The acquisition of Elastic Therapy is an excellent strategic fit for DJO and our growing vascular franchise worldwide," he added.
According to financial results published by DJO in November 2010, the company has experienced positive sales growth trends in the fiscal year to date.
