Malvern launches SEC-LS detector for protein analysis

14th February 2011

Malvern Instruments has announced the launch of a new size exclusion chromatography light scattering (SEC-LS) detector package for use in protein analysis.

The Zetasizer mu-V with OmniFACE and OmniSEC is a dual-function device that can be used for dynamic light scattering and static light scattering applications.

Available as a complete chromatography system or as an upgrade for existing SEC modules, the combination of its OmniFACE and OmniSEC technology means the unit can be linked up and produce results with any third party system.

In stand-alone batch mode, it can be used to study molecular size and formulation stability, while in SEC detector mode it has applications in the measurement of molecular weight and determination of oligomeric state.

Malvern introduced the device to life science professionals last month at SCM-5, the Fifth International Symposium on the Separation and Characterization of Natural and Synthetic Macromolecules.

The manufacturer added: "The laser stability and optical setup of the Zetasizer mu-V ensure excellent baseline stability and signal-to-noise for maximum sensitivity, while the eight microlitre flow cell minimises band broadening."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800403737-ADNFCR
