Beiersdorf confirms growth in 2010
Beiersdorf has published its financial report for the 2010 fiscal year, noting a nominal 7.8 percent rise in group sales for the period.
The health and personal care company generated sales worth 6.19 billion euros (5.34 billion pounds) during the 12 months, with both its consumer and tesa business segments experiencing growth.
It comes ahead of a year that will see the firm make extensive investments and strategic decisions to safeguard future growth, including streamlining its consumer business unit to improve its focus on skin and body care.
This will include a double-digit million euro investment in its Nivea skincare range, which will involve a number of high-profile marketing campaigns to mark the brand's 100th anniversary.
Thomas Quaas, chairman of the executive board of Beiersdorf, expressed confidence that these undertakings "will strengthen Nivea in the long term".
Beiersdorf expects that these initiatives will see its financial performance remain level in 2011, before experiencing positive growth in 2012.
