Boston Scientific launches Energen and Punctua devices
Boston Scientific has announced the launch of its innovative new Energen and Punctua cardiac resynchronisation therapy defibrillators and implantable cardioverter defibrillators.
The devices have been introduced and applied in clinical procedures for the first time in Europe this month, allowing physicians to treat and prevent heart failure and sudden cardiac death more easily.
They have been designed as the smallest and thinnest high-energy devices of their kind, meaning they can be implanted discretely with only a minor impact on physical appearance.
Most of the new products are compatible with the company's Latitude patient management system and also offer the 4-Site DF4 connector system option, which improves compliance with international connector standards.
Hank Kucheman, executive vice-president and group president for the cardiology, rhythm and vascular division at Boston Scientific, said: "This new portfolio of products, built on our tradition of innovation, continues our advantages in size, shape and longevity and provides multiple therapy options to match specific patient needs."
Last month, the company published its financial report for the first quarter of the year, during which it delivered sales that were at the high end of its internal expectations.
