Kimberly-Clark outlines new sustainability goals for 2015
Kimberly-Clark has detailed a new programme of sustainability improvements that will be implemented between now and 2015.
Speaking at the Corporate Eco Forum annual meeting in Washington DC, the new Sustainability 2015 scheme will see the company reducing water use by 25 percent and greenhouse gas emissions by five percent in the next four years.
By 2015, the firm intends for a quarter of its net sales to come from environmentally innovative products, while the green impact of its packaging is to be slashed by a fifth.
These and other sustainability targets come as part of Kimberly-Clark's ongoing efforts to upgrade its environmental goals every five years.
Suhas Apte, vice-president for global sustainability at Kimberly-Clark, said the company "is establishing global focus areas to ensure long-term success and access to essential resources for our businesses and our communities around the world for generations to come".
In April 2011, the firm announced that it has raised its guidance for the 2011 fiscal year based on its strong performance in the first quarter.
