Janssen name adopted by Tibotec Therapeutics
Janssen's global brand presence has been strengthened following the announcement that its Tibotec Therapeutics division is changing its name to Janssen Therapeutics.
The firm, which is also affiliated with Centocor Ortho Biotech Products and falls under the Johnson and Johnson group umbrella, is rebranding in order to enhance the shared identity and collaboration of Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies.
Janssen takes its name from the late Johnson and Johnson scientist Dr Paul Janssen, discoverer and champion of breakthrough treatments such as the HIV drug rilpivirine, which is marketed by Tibotec as Edurant.
Following this change, all of Janssen Therapeutics' brand names and organisational structures will remain in place and unchanged.
Vanessa Broadhurst, president of Janssen Therapeutics, said: "Uniting together under a common identity with the other Janssen pharmaceutical companies will allow us to operate more effectively, delivering even better solutions to patients and healthcare providers in the future."
Earlier this month, the Janssen-Cilag division of Janssen announced data from a new clinical trial of Dacogen, showing the drug's efficacy among older acute myeloid leukaemia patients.
