Organisers hail success of 2011 SEVC animal health event

The Southern European Veterinary Conference (SEVC) enjoyed its most successful year to date in 2011, according to organisers of the multinational event.

Taking place at the Feria de Barcelona between September 29th and October 2nd this year, the conference was jointly organised by the Spanish animal health body AVEPA and the North American Veterinary Conference, with attendees hailing from 51 nations.

More than 3,000 veterinarians – including representatives from the UK, France, Australia, India, Hong Kong, Canada and Russia – registered in the 2011 scientific programme, with more than 200 lectures taking place.

Two of the event's main sponsors, Virbac and Elanco, saw robust attendance for their respective symposia on Leishmaniasis vaccines and flea control, while various new treatment techniques were discussed.

"This international representation distinguishes SEVC as the largest international small animal veterinary conference in the world in terms of percentage of international delegates," the organisers said.

SEVC was held for the fifth time in 2011, with the next meeting to be held in Barcelona once again between October 18th and 21st 2012.
