BMI Healthcare to partner London NHS trust on procurement
BMI Healthcare has announced a new procurement partnership with Guys' and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London.
The private hospital group has been selected to provide a new wholesaler and procurement service for general medical surgical consumables, with the framework agreement set to be accessible to all London trusts.
Through this new arrangement, the purchasing scale of the NHS and BMI Healthcare will be combined, utilising joint infrastructure and capabilities to achieve major savings and efficiency gains.
It is estimated that the agreement will potentially affect more than 150 million pounds of London medical consumables spending and showcases the potential benefits of partnerships between the public and private sectors.
Matt Oxley, group procurement and property director at BMI Healthcare, said: "We think this is the most exciting response yet to the National Audit Report and Public Accounts Committee's call for a culture of more efficient procurement in the NHS."
Last month, BMI Healthcare's Goring Hall Hospital was presented with a national award for best patient care initiative for its Enhanced Recovery project, which has now been rolled out across the provider's network.
