Steris and Toshiba to develop new hybrid surgical suites
Steris has entered into a new collaboration with Toshiba America Medical Systems on the development of innovative new hybrid surgical suites.
The suites will incorporate vascular, cardiovascular, paediatric and neurosurgical capabilities and will combine technological advances developed by both companies, making use of their experience in operating room design, integration and medical imaging.
Toshiba will be responsible for contributing tableside digital information and imaging devices, while Steris will provide high-definition integrated surgical suites with LED surgical lighting and visualisation systems, as well as Harmony iQ integration and equipment management solutions.
According to the partners, the resulting systems will allow medical teams to carry out a wide range of surgical procedures, while streamlining the complex process of creating hybrid operating rooms.
Robert Popilock, senior market development manager at Steris Surgical Solutions, said: "We recognise the great interest our clinical partners have in advancing care through surgical innovation and improved efficiencies and outcomes."
Earlier this month, the company announced the launch of its new Amsco Chimeron Small Steam Sterilisers, for use in infection prevention procedures in a clinical setting.
