GE Healthcare announces new drug manufacturing alliance
GE Healthcare has entered into a new alliance with M and W Group to support developing nations in the manufacturing of vaccines, insulin and biopharmaceuticals.
The healthcare firm will be partnering the engineering, construction and project management company to provide governments and drugmakers with an integrated turnkey approach for the construction of biopharmaceutical manufacturing plants.
This partnership will aim to help emerging nations to become self-sufficient in drug development terms instead of having to rely on imports, which will help to meet the rising global demand for treatments.
It comes as part of GE Healthcare's healthymagination initiative, which is designed to improve access to and reduce the cost of high-quality care worldwide.
Olivier Loeillot, general manager of enterprise solutions at GE Healthcare Life Sciences, said: "We're delighted to form this alliance with M and W Group, who share our vision of bringing affordable and flexible manufacturing capabilities to countries worldwide, especially the emerging nations."
This comes after GE Healthcare formed a similar collaboration with Neste Jacobs last month, which will focus on the creation of blood plasma fractionation plants.
