Kimberly-Clark study shows benefits of RF treatment for low back pain
Kimberly-Clark has published data from a new clinical study that demonstrates the benefits cooled radiofrequency (RF) can offer in the treatment of sacroiliac joint pain in the lower back.
In a trial conducted using Kimberly-Clark's SInergy cooled RF system, it was shown that patients undergoing RF therapy over three months experienced significant improvements in pain, disability and quality-of-life outcomes.
This relief was maintained in a subsequent nine-month follow-up, showing the long-term benefits offered by this minimally invasive method of treatment.
Kimberly-Clark notes that chronic sacroiliac joint pain can be a common cause of disability and workplace absence, as well as being difficult to treat through conventional means.
Dr Nilesh Patel, lead clinical investigator, said: "The trial results indicate cooled radiofrequency is a much-needed interventional treatment that offers a safe and effective option for alleviating chronic difficult-to-treat low back pain."
Earlier this month, Kimberly-Clark announced the appointment of Tony Palmer as its new president for global brands and innovation, with the aim of promoting global growth.
