Philips to sponsor new British Institute of Radiology awards
Philips has announced that it will be sponsoring two new annual British Institute of Radiology (BIR) awards designed to support BIR trainees.
The first of these, the BIR Trainee Award for Excellence, will provide trainees with the opportunity to showcase good practice in multidisciplinary working by creating and submitting an educational resource in electronic format.
A prize of 750 pounds will be awarded to the winning group or individual, while their work will be made available via the BIR website to its multidisciplinary trainee membership.
Meanwhile, the second new scheme is entitled the BIR Student Travel Bursary and will offer financial aid to BIR student members who wish to attend a relevant training event.
Entrants will submit personal statements of up to 500 words to explain why they would benefit from attending their chosen event, with winners to receive a bursary of 200 pounds and a certificate.
Last month, Philips reported its financial results for the third quarter of 2012, during which it experienced a seven percent year-over-year increase in healthcare sales.
