GE Healthcare assists ultrasound awareness campaign in India

17th December 2012

GE Healthcare has assisted the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) with a project aimed at helping to enhance medical education for healthcare providers in rural parts of India.

The project has seen an ASE team equipped with GE Healthcare technology travelling to north-west India to train Indian physicians in image acquisition using cardiovascular ultrasound technology, while also testing the possibilities of remote medical education.

Clinicians will be able to use GE Healthcare's Vivid i and Vivid q ultrasound systems, plus the Vscan pocket-sized visualisation tool, to facilitate the acquisition of the images, while also providing an educational and awareness vehicle for India-based physicians.

Al Lojewski, general manager for cardiovascular ultrasound at GE Healthcare, said: "Based on the positive impact and success of the medical camp in January 2012, GE is honoured to help provide education to local physicians and improve the care provided to citizens in India once again."

This comes after the medical technology firm launched new cell science laboratories in Cardiff with an investment of three million pounds earlier this month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801507853-ADNFCR
