Clement Clarke launches inhaler training device

20th December 2012

Clement Clarke International has launched a new device called Flo-Tone Trainer, designed to enable patients to acquire good inhaler technique with ease.

The product is a simple add-on for pressurised inhalers that produces an audible signal to guide the patient to actuate the inhaler and coaches them towards the appropriate inspiratory flow rate, delivering improved health outcomes at a minimal cost.

Studies have shown that most patients and many healthcare professionals are not familiar with the correct technique for using pressurised inhalers, with overly rapid inhalation leading to medication impacting in the throat, rather than reaching the lungs.

Benefits of using aerosol medication properly include a reduced need for reliever medications, lower hospitalisation rates and a minimisation of asthma-related mortality.

Mark Sanders, managing director of Clement Clarke, said: “The need for tools to facilitate inhaler training is widely recognised and the reception that we have witnessed to Flo-Tone Trainer has been outstanding."

The manufacturer is based in Harlow and has been involved in the production of innovative medical instrumentation since 1917.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801510882-ADNFCR
